FAQ

Questions people usually ask first.

If your question isn't answered here, get in touch — we're happy to talk it through before anyone commits to anything.

Can NDIS funding be used for Zilla Pathways?

Zilla Pathways is designed to provide practical skill-building supports for people with disability. Whether NDIS funding can be used will depend on the participant's individual plan, goals, funding management and the support being delivered. Contact us and we can discuss your circumstances.

Do I have to pay for the first visit?

No. Zilla Pathways offers prospective participants a free 30–45 minute introductory Meet & Greet so they can experience the environment and determine whether it feels right for them before committing to ongoing sessions.

Do I have to sign up after the Meet & Greet?

No. There is no obligation to continue.

Can a parent, carer or support coordinator attend?

Yes. We want participants to feel comfortable during their introduction and welcome appropriate support people.

What age group is Zilla Pathways for?

Zilla Pathways is primarily designed for teenagers and young adults aged approximately 15–25 — including school leavers and young people preparing for employment, further training or greater independence.

Who is Zilla Pathways for?

Our primary focus is young people who are autistic or neurodivergent with low to moderate support needs, who can take part in a real hospitality workplace with the right support, and who are building confidence or taking a first step toward employment. It suits people who learn best by doing rather than by theory.

How is suitability decided?

Zilla Pathways is a specialised work-readiness and confidence-building program, so suitability is determined individually — based on the participant's goals, interests, support needs and ability to take part in the program safely. The free Meet & Greet is how we work that out together.

Are participants being trained to become chefs?

No. The goal isn't to turn everyone into a chef. Hospitality is simply the training ground — a real environment where young people can practise communication, teamwork, responsibility, time management and workplace routines, and discover what they're good at.

What kinds of activities do participants do?

Practical tasks in a supported commercial food environment: food preparation, hygiene and cleaning, packing and accuracy checking, stock handling, customer service, organisation and following workplace routines.
